Look. If we’re going for new life, that means full life, and a life that’s full is a life that’s big.
I don’t mean “full” like “busy.” There’s a real danger in being too busy. You can be perfectly busy but never really be alive. I mean “full” like “every single particle of your being is engaged and excited about being alive.”
I know last week I talked about starting small. I still think that’s true, but I think we need to set our sights high—dream big, dream lofty, dream wild. Start small, but don’t stay small.
That’s the struggle. That’s our difficulty. So often, we want so badly to succeed that we settle for small. We convince ourselves that we’re content with small, that small is all we ever wanted anyway, and then we rejoice in small, and stay small.
All the while, we struggle to silence the voice that whispers, surely there’s more.
I’m done with a small life. I’m done with settling. I’m done with convincing myself I’m satisfied before I even try.
Instead of giving in to that voice of discouragement, I want to dream big. I want to fan that tiny urge for more into a giant, unstoppable flame.
This week, let’s dream big. Let your imagination run wild. What’s the biggest, craziest thing you’ve always wanted to do? Start there. This time, don’t talk yourself down with all the impossibilities. Think instead of all the reasons why not. Always wanted to backpack Europe? Why not? Always wanted to run a marathon? Why not? Always wanted to be an author? Why not?
Stop talking yourself out of your dreams. Stop hiding behind your somedays. Someday will come and go and you’ll never have moved.
We are all capable of more than we give ourselves credit for. We can accomplish more than we think we can. Before we can do we must first give ourselves permission to dream. Dream big, dream lofty, dream wild.
Ready?
Go.
