You are called to greatness.
God calls you to greatness because he knows what you’re capable of. He created you for love—to be loved and to give love—and to participate with him in bringing about His Kingdom here on earth. That call is a beautiful gift and an awesome responsibility, so how can you begin to say yes? And furthermore, how can you begin to say yes if your life is “just” normal? Doesn’t “greatness” imply something drastic like selling all your possessions and moving to a far-away place?
Not exactly. Not for everyone.
Greatness is simple.
Greatness is simple: say yes to God’s call right where you are, in the circumstances you encounter in your daily life.
You can make your life an intentional yes by developing rhythms and routines now that make it easier to say yes to God.
These rhythms and routines incline your heart to generosity, service, kindness, and most importantly: hearing God’s voice and a willingness to respond.
One thing that I have learned over the years is that greatness cannot be left to chance.
Like James Clear says in his book Atomic Habits, we are temped to “leave it up to chance and hope that we will ‘just remember to do it’ or feel motivated at the right time” (p. 71). He’s talking about habits here, but I think we can apply the same lesson to greatness.
How often have you left your prayer life up to chance–or your budget, or exercise for that matter?
Your first step in making greatness intentional.
That’s why I created The Greatness Starter Pack. This bundle of templates will help you craft a plan for your daily prayer, your monthly budget, and how you’ll get some movement in each week.
- Prayer keeps you rooted in God’s love and His mission for your life
- Budgeting allows you to be a good steward of the finances God blesses you with, leaving room for generosity to those in need and a joyful life for yourself
- Movement offers many benefits including physical and mental health, and keeps you fit for whatever God calls you to
Pope Benedict XVI once said, “The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.” If your days blur past in an endless swirl of monotony or lack clarity, let this call to greatness be your rallying cry. Let it give you hope, and a direction to take. And let Your Greatness Starter Pack provide you with your first steps on the road to greatness.
“If we have hope, we have a reason to take action” (James Clear, Atomic Habits, p. 72).
